“David Hockney: A Bigger Picture” Free Screening

What: Columbia University’s Italian Academy for Advanced Studies will present a screening of Bruno Wollheim’s award-winning documentary film “David Hockney: A Bigger Picture” followed by a discussion with the filmmaker led by Christina Hunter. Filmed single-handedly over three years by director Bruno Wollheim, this documentary offers a vivid portrait of David Hockney, one of Britain’s greatest living artists, as he returns at the age of 68 to his native Yorkshire to paint its landscape.

The documentary film was premiered on BBC1 in 2009, and has gone on to gain the ‘Best Essay’ Award at the International Festival for Films on Art (FIFA), and nominations for Best Arts Documentary by The Grierson and The Emmy International Awards in 2010. This is its New York City premiere.
