What: The Modern Story (TMS) is a not-for-profit, San Francisco-based organization that aims to bridge the technological and educational divide in India by introducing digital storytelling practices to underserved youth. Every year, TMS recruits college graduates to lead digital media programs for 8th- and 9th-grade students at inner-city schools in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. For six months, from June to December, fellows develop and teach a curriculum emphasizing creative writing and digital skills (basic photography, videography, and video-editing) and work with students to create short documentaries addressing social, political, and environmental issues that affect them.
We encourage all seniors and recent alumni who are interested in creative writing, digital media, and/or education to apply! Feel free to contact Stella Tan (email@example.com) or Srilekha Jayanthi (firstname.lastname@example.org), both CC ’11 and 2011 TMS fellows, with any questions. Application deadline March 5th.
