What: The Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival presents Brooklyn-focused public programs, dedicated to illuminating the rich cultural history and character of the people and communities of Brooklyn. The documentaries screening at the 2010 Brooklyn Film & Arts Festival will address the theme of “Brooklyn Roots, Past & Present.”
The films include “To Brooklyn and Back: A Mohawk Journey,” about “the legendary Mohawk steelworkers and their families who traveled to North Gowanus from the Kahnawake reserve in Canada to build the skyscrapers of New York“; and “The Renovation,” about “a Brooklyn resident and Vietnam War veteran who undertakes the renovation of the Williamsburg house which is also his birthplace; his internal struggle with the spirits and memories of the departed inhabiting the house and his mind are illuminated in this compelling film.”
