Marcel Proust: Portrait Souvenir

What: Professor Antoine Compagnon will introduce the film “Marcel Proust, Portrait Souvenir” (a documentary by Gérard Herzog, 1962) and lead a discussion following the screening.

About: This documentary on the life of Marcel Proust was made in 1962, the 40th anniversary of the author’s death. The film includes interviews about the life and times of Marcel Proust with his friends and contemporaries, including François Mauriac, Jean Cocteau, Paul Morand, Daniel Halévy, Emmanuel Bert, the Duc de Gramont, and Céleste Albarret, Proust’s devoted servant and secretary.
