Akira Kurosawa Centennial Series

What: Film Forum is holding a film series in memory of acclaimed Japanese director, Akira Kurosawa, winner of the Academy’s Lifetime Achievement award. He is often thought of as one of the best filmmakers of the last century, and has many distinctive trademarks — use of telephoto lenses, multiple cameras, and weather to affect the mood of a scene. Like this generation’s Jame Cameron, he was a perfectionist who went through great lengths to achieve desired visual effects.

When/Where: Many of the films have played, but the series will continue until February 5th. Don’t miss out! Film Forum is located at 209 W Houston Street, between 6th & 7th Avenue.
