Tomorrow, Friday August 21: Rock Heart Beijing, the debut feature film from Karen Winther. Rock Heart Beijing is a global, political, rock n’ roll doc about the dynamic Chinese punk band Subs, following them from their homeland to their first European tour. Location: The Old American Can Factory (232 Third Street at 3rd Avenue, Brooklyn). Cost: $9. Doors open at 8pm, live music starts at 8:30pm, and the film starts at 9pm. After the film, there will be a Q &A with the Filmmakers, and then, at 11pm, FREE SANGRIA courtesy of Carlo Rossi.
Saturday August 22: The End of the Line, a documentary about our depleting oceanic resources. Location: The Beach at Governor’s Island. Cost: $12. Dors open at 8pm, music starts at 8:30pm, and the film goes on at 9pm.
The series runs Fridays and Saturdays through September 12, so if you are out of town for the summer you still have time to see it after school begins! Closing weekend will feature independent short films exclusively, and an open bar party at Fontana’s (105 Eldridge St at Grand) following the program Friday, September 11.
