If You Are in LA: Cinespia

If you are in LA for the summer, be sure to block out a Saturday night for Cinespia, a weekly film summer film series at Hollywood Forever Cemetery (Sunset and Gower).

Gates open at 7:30pm. Get there early with a picnic and listen to DJ sets before every show. The movie, which plays at 9pm, costs $10.

The cemetery itself (and don’t worry, you sit on a grave-free field), is revolutionary in its use of film. When you buy a plot you get to make your own LifeStory, a video archive of your life, including footage you already own AND footage Hollywood Forever Cemetery will collect for you, including interviews of you and your family.

Check out the cemetery’s film archives at Forever LifeStories. For a lovely This American Life piece on Hollywood Forever, check out Act II of Episode #174, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and Milestones at the This American Life website.
